Duke County, Massachusetts resident Jared Ravizza, age 26, of Chilmark, was apprehended on Saturday, May 25, in Barnsdale County in Sandwich, Massachusetts, in connection with the stabbing death of Hartford County resident Bruce Feldman, age 70, of West Hartford.
According to Connecticut State Police, on Saturday, May 25, at 3:30 p.m., troopers responded to a Deep River home for a disturbance report.
A trooper learned that a suspect approached the residence on Merriwold Lane, threw a shovel through the front door window pane, and left.
The complainants identified the suspect as someone they had recognized who was staying nearby on Maritone Lane, state police said.
State Police said the information led the investigating trooper to 15 Maritone Lane, where he discovered Feldman with visible injuries outdoors. Feldman died at the scene.
During the initial investigation, troopers discovered that a second person, Ravizza, had been at the home. Investigators found personal items belonging to Ravizza, and witnesses provided a description that was consistent with Ravizza's.
Surrounding agencies in Connecticut, as well as law enforcement agencies in Massachusetts, were notified of the murder and provided with a description of a vehicle associated with Ravizza.
CNN reported the vehicle to be a black Porsche Macan SUV.
Shortly after that, Massachusetts State Police said the vehicle described was in the State of Massachusetts.
At approximately 7:34 p.m., Massachusetts State Police took Ravizza into custody after he allegedly crashed the Porsche SUV in Sandwich, Massachusetts.
Authorities in Massachusetts told CNN that Ravizza was also a suspect in two stabbings last month at a McDonald's and four stabbings at an AMC movie theater earlier on Saturday, May 25.
The investigation in Deep River, Connecticut, remains active and ongoing.
Ravizza remains in custody in Massachusetts, and criminal charges in Connecticut are now pending.
